Q:What is the
LookUp field used for?
|
A: The LookUp field is used for
the Standard lookup mode. If you enter the name in the LookUp field, the
lookup will be done almost the same way as it is done in the
built-in Address Book. The only difference is, that
PhoneMagic always displays the matching record
on the top line of the screen. That makes it easier
to see additional matching records without needing
to scroll down.
You can switch between Standard LookUp and
Smart lookup, by tapping the label.

|
Q: What is the Smart
field used for?
|
A: The Smart field is used for
the Smart lookup mode. You can lookup records based on
the First Name, Last Name, or Company Name, without needing
to re-sort the Address Book. You can also lookup a record
using a combination of First Name and Last Name.
When you start to enter a name in the Smart field,
the first matching record will be selected, and the matching characters will be
highlighted.
As you enter more text, the number of matching records will
be reduced. As soon as you enter enough letters to uniquely
identify a name, the record will automatically be opened
in Record View.
You can switch between Standard LookUp and
Smart lookup, by tapping the label.

Q: What is
the Stylus Free lookup mode?
|
A: In Stylus Free lookup mode you can easily lookup
names without using the stylus, and without using Graffiti.
You can use your finger to tap the buttons, and quickly find
a name. Each button has 3 or 4 letters. In order to enter a name,
tap the button that contains the letter that you want to enter.
Tap the ? button to enter any character that is not a letter.
This includes spaces, numbers, and punctuation.
Stylus Free lookup mode always uses Smart lookup.
You can lookup records based on the First Name, Last Name,
or Company Name, without needing to re-sort the Address Book.
You can also lookup a record using a combination of First
Name and Last Name.

The more letters you tap, there will be fewer records in the list,
and you can select the desired record. In most cases, after tapping a few buttons,
you will see the record you are looking for in the list.
Select the record from the list to open the record.
Tap the Clear button and keep it pressed until you
hear a beep (about 1/2 second), to delete all of the characters
that have been entered.
You can switch back to Smart or Standard lookup by
tapping the
button.
To go into Stylus Free lookup
mode, tap the abc... button from Standard lookup or

Q: What is a PhoneMagic
Reminder?
|
A: A PhoneMagic Reminder
is an alarm that you can set for any entry in
your Address Book. You can specify the time that
the alarm will ring, and a one line message that
will be displayed when the alarm sounds. In addition
to the one line message, the name of the person,
and all of their phone numbers will be displayed
when the alarm rings. This is a very convenient
way to remember to call someone at a certain time.
If you can use your Palm organizer to dial a number,
you can dial the number when the reminder is displayed.
For more information, see the
Handbook.

|
 |
| |
|
Q: How do I create
a Virtual Link?
|
A: One common use of
a Virtual Link would be in your Date Book,
when you have a meeting with someone. The text
of the appointment would be the Virtual Link,
and would look like this:
Meeting with <John Smith>
In order use a Virtual Link, you must enable
the pop-up capability of PhoneMagic. In order
to do that, run PhoneMagic, and select PhoneMagic
Prefs from the Options menu. In the
PhoneMagic Preferences screen, make sure
that Phone Lookup Enabled or Command
Bar Icon Enabled is checked. If you don't
see the Command Bar Icon Enabled checkbox,
then your device is running a Palm OS version
lower than 3.5. You'll still be able to user Phone

|
A: PhoneMagic is based on the

Q: The colors
that are being used by PhoneMagic don’t look
good on my device. What can I do about that?
|
A: Colors can be displayed very
differently on different Palm devices, so a color scheme that
looks good on one device might look very different on another
one. Select Color Settings from the Options
menu, and then tap the Use Default Colors button. If you
don’t like the way it looks, you can modify each of the four
different colors individually until you find a combination
that suits you.

Q: How do I beam PhoneMagic to another organizer?
|
A: You can beam PhoneMagic to any Palm/Sony/Treo
device. The receiving organizer will be able to use PhoneMagic
for the 30 day trial period (unless they had it beforehand).
Position the two organizers, so that the IR (Infra red) port
of the receiving organizer is within two feet of the sending organizer.
From the main application screen, you need to open the Menu command bar:
on a Treo 600 (and other keyboard devices), tap the Menu button,
on other devices touch the top left corner
of the screen (where you see the time displayed)
on older devices, tap the Menu silkscreen icon (next to the graffiti area).
A drop down menu appears,
Select Beam from the App menu.
Select PhoneMagic, and tap the Beam button.
The receiving organizer will sense the transmitted data, and will begin receiving it.
On the receiving organizer, when the transmission is completed,
you will be prompted with a screen that asks: Do you
want to accept PhoneMagic into Applications?
Tap Yes to store PhoneMagic on the receiving organizer.
Wait for the Status dialog box to indicate that the transfer is complete.
Tap the PhoneMagic icon. You should
have 30 days to use PhoneMagic before you need to register.
If it shows expired,
